A three-day long Rabindra Festival started at Shahjadpur Kachari Bari in memory of Rabindranath Tagore. Although the festival has not been organized for the last two years due to the Corona epidemic, this year on the occasion of the 161st birth anniversary of the poet, the Kachari house in Shahjadpur has been decorated with colorful decorations. The festival was inaugurated by Sirajganj-6 MP Professor Marina Jahan Kabita on Sunday afternoon at the initiative of Sirajganj district administration. State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury was the chief guest at the inaugural function. Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said, "Poet Rabindranath Tagore is not just a poet, he is a great man. Although he was a zamindar, he was devoted to the common man." The state minister called upon all to build a life following the life of Rabindranath Tagore . As a special guest, Rabindra University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shah Azam gave his speech in the inaugural function which was presided over by Farooq Ahmed , Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner. Robi Vice Chancellor said, "He (Rabindranath Tagore) thought of a region called Bangladesh during the British rule, and thought that the country would be unique, where humanity would flourish through the love of natural beauty and the love of man and nature." According to Kachari Bari sources, the festival featured daily recitations of Rabindranath's poems, songs and plays. Kachari Bari in Shahjadpur is already crowded with Rabindra devotees, walking towards the festival. Rehearsals of various performances including songs, dances and dramas had been going on for the last few days under the supervision of Rabindra University teachers. Rajshahi City Mayor and Bangladesh Awami League Presidium member A.H.M. Khairuzzaman Liton was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the three-day festival.
